What you shouldn’t do:

• “Hey, where are you from?”
• “Hey, what is your name?”
• “Hey, how old are you?”

Don’t start off with these, its very weird and way too personal. Instead:

Do these:

• “Hey, how are you?”
• “Hii, I got a question, do you have a moment?”
• “Yooo, so I got some things I wanna ask – you got a minute?”

Saying these are better than asking personal questions. You want to see if the person you are contacting have time or want to talk. Asking personal things as a first impression is not so good – Don’t do that now.

Well hope the rest of the conversation goes well. Or you can stay weird and ask personal questions right off the bat and then get blocked. The choice is yours to make.
