Into a van, I was attempting to reverse park onto a slanted driveway. The metallic vehicle refused to move backward even when full throttle was used. Suddenly, it jerked backwards and rammed into something. Out of the corner of my eyes, a figure fell to the ground, a quiet thud rang as the noise of the engine muffled it away.

I opened the door and ran out, only to find nothing there. The owner of the home greeted me as if nothing happened. I hesitated before speaking to him. He was an old man, not frail but on the doorstep of becoming bed bound; Round head, white hair, stubby height of around 5’5 and a slightly slanted back.

“Hi, glad you made it. I had problems with the house extension in the back, there are some contractors I hired trying to fix it but something else also got broken down. I’ll take you back to see it so you know better than me explaining”, he turns uncaringly towards the gate, started moving forward and I follow behind him.

He touched the wooden, kind of worn-out gate. As he presses onto it with his palm, the metal hinges squeaks and reveals the vast backyard with a downwards sloping garden, facing towards the city below. The sun glares directly into all directions, reflecting off the grand windows and blinding me for a moment. It was a beautiful scenery, feeling as if it belongs in a romance movie before the sun falls and the stars fell.

Before words escaped my mouth, a horrifying scene present itself before me. Above was the guy I had rammed my van into, dangling from the roof with only a thick electric cord of some kind tightly strangling him around his neck. Lifeless and motionless body hangs, the bottom section looks fine – it was recent, though I can’t say the same for the head. As I look at the corpse, my eyes starts to shake, it starts to become blurry, the visuals on the head; it was green, as if moss has grown on his head. The veins popped out of his head, the eyes empty of life, the foaming at the mouth – dripping onto the grass below and the head slightly tilted.

I turned to the old guy, it doesn’t seem that he notices it. “Hey, why are you guys so slow – if you take any longer, I’m docking your pay. Move it”. Why… can he not see a dead man? He sounds more annoyed than worried or terrified. I look up at the corpse again to confirm what I saw, it was still there. The world starts dimming, the sun went grey in an instant; the balance distorts around me and the nausea builds up from the bottom of my stomach, towards my throat and lingering right under my mouth – refusing to leave.

Looking down at the grass below, it was lush and green before. Now all I see are the stench of death leaking from the “once-alive” grass, a darker green and the eerie sharp wind blows. I wanted to leave, I wanted to run away. I frantically turn my head towards everyone on-site. No one paid attention, the old guy did not budge, the workers seems lifeless the closer I look; their eyes void of emotions or thoughts, an empty and hollow skeleton continues working as if nothing happened. Panic fills my stomach, sweat poured from all directions, the world spins slightly and the smell of wronging surges forth.

I turned to my left, and started to sprint away; slipping on the wet patch of grass, I retained my momentum and gotten hold of myself, managing to not fall. I rushed towards the gate, the world behind me catching on, the deadly sensation follows. As before I get to the gate – swinging with the flow of the wind; I woke up.

The End

That is the end of this weird dream. There may be spelling errors, but writing this while the memory is somewhat fresh keeps the story exciting. If you enjoyed this short horror story, you can share with others. (Yes this is the dream I had, weird right?)
